Walking takes a rest as the inner bitch rises

Dear gentle reader. An old saying goes that slow and steady wins the race and I hope this will be true. My feet have been excruciatingly painful and while not as painful as childbirth, it is enough to bring on the snappy bitch syndrome. I've reached out to a dear friend who wrote a book "Even you can complete a Marathon" he has been running a long time and offers support on ailments to others. I reached out to ask for help. Well last night I started the exercises and already I'm starting to.feel better. Not fixed and certainly hasn't taken away my snappy bitchiness, but I feel there is hope and less pain. My commitment, dear reader, is to try one's best with the juggle of responsibilities. speaking of responsibilities, Bridgetown series 3 starts this week and I'll need to walk to earn a sit down and watch.... till next time... keep well and embrace your inner bitchiness.... ❤️❤️😭😁

The sneaky night walk

Happy to get another sneaky walk in last night and took hubby. worked all day and finding it hard to walk in daylight. Was a bit of a challenge with no torch and we did see one suspicious character. I was glad to be with hubby. The downside is I can hardly walk this morning and I have a meeting with the big wigs at UQ that I am representing at. Hopefully I can walk unassisted to the room. Have now gone double digits in kms and as I look across the team, we're all doing a great job. The walks the team are organising are a good social outing. ( I can't participate as I'm always at work 🤣). It is encouraging me to keep finding my sneaky half hour! The orthotics work to some degree but I still have pain afterwards. Hopefully with time, gentle exercise and stretches it will get better. Won't let the sponsors down. Looking forward to a busy day. Happy hump day. ❤️

Walk 3 - a simple half an hour

Woke up and found it's the 13th May today. Nearly half way through May. WT? So looking at how we're progressing, Zoe is way ahead on 57Km, then Estelle on 26.7Km, then Sandra on 11Km and then me in 6Km. I don't want to let the team or myself down so did a sneaky half an hour this morning. I think the most frustrating thing is how slow I am and I keep telling myself it doesn't matter it all adds up. So the sneaky half hour is going to be used more often. Measure the time walking not the distance and the 50Km will come along faster. loving the challenge to get moving. Feet are still stuffed but sucking it up. The sleep walkers are nearly half way to the fund raising target. Thanks to all the donations. Such a great cause. We've raised $723 of our $1524 goal. Enjoy the week, keep walking !! ❤️ Meagan 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♀️🚶‍♀️

Walk number 2 - we're doing this

It's a long weekend here in sunny Queensland and what better way to start a Monday than with a walk. Every step is a step closer to finishing the 50km goal. My foot still hurts and the inner soles I've purchased are on their way. Today I stuffed a cut up sponge under my heal to help with the pain. Managed to get 3.6Km done. walked through the bush walk near our house. was nice weather for it. Am sore but determined 💪 😬 The picture here reminds me of Kate Bush song (slightlyadjusted). " keep walking up that road keep walking up that hill....." It's one of the elevations I walk up. 🤣😅🎤

The first walk done ✔️

Today I started the walking. I am a little behind the pack but hope to catch up soon. Struggling with plantar fasciitis my left heel is in constant pain. This morning I met up with the sleep walkers to walk around the lake. The lure of a coffee and a chat the added sweetener. Weather was perfect. 19°C no rain or hot sun. Managed to shuffle around the lake and squeeze out 3km. A bit frustrated as I used to run around the lake, but grateful to have been moving. Lots of friendly dogs. immensely grateful to my walking partner Sandra and the support crew the sleep walkers. The journey has started. 🎉❤️ Meagan xxoo

Support our challenge to leave MS behind!

We are taking part in The May 50K challenge this May to raise funds for life-changing research into multiple sclerosis!

MS strikes young people in the prime of their lives. The average age of diagnosis is only 30 years old, and there is no known cure.

Please make a donation and support our challenge to leave MS where it belongs, behind us.

Your donation will support research into the prevention, treatment and finding a cure for multiple sclerosis to change lives.

Thank you!
